Accessibility

How esinergia works to make esinergia.co accessible to the widest possible diversity of users, which standard we apply, what we acknowledge as a limitation, and how to report a barrier.

1. Introduction and scope

This statement describes esinergia's commitment to the digital accessibility of esinergia.co. It explains the applicable technical standard, the practices we maintain, the acknowledged limitations, and the open channel to report accessibility barriers.

It applies to the public esinergia.co site. It does not apply to applications, portals, or platforms that esinergia designs, builds, or operates for clients. Those applications have their own accessibility requirements defined in the project contract and are governed under the associated quality plan.

2. Declared accessibility standard

esinergia adopts as its objective compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

WCAG 2.1 AA is the reference standard for enterprise public sites and for the regulated sectors esinergia serves (higher education, healthcare, public sector and government, financial services).

This is our declared objective and the metric against which we internally audit the site. We do not declare formal external certification of compliance with the standard.

3. What esinergia implements

Current accessibility practices on esinergia.co include:

  • Semantic HTML structure with correct heading hierarchy (H1 to H6) so that screen readers navigate content in logical order.
  • Alternative text on informative images for users of screen readers or who navigate without images active.
  • Color contrast that meets the minimum 4.5:1 ratio for normal text and 3:1 for large text, validated against the visual tokens of the esinergia Design System.
  • Full keyboard operability on every interactive element, without requiring a mouse to complete any critical action.
  • Accessible forms with associated labels, clear error messages, and accessible validation.
  • Text resizing up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Responsive design that adapts to mobile devices, tablets, and desktops without additional barriers.
  • Clear language and coherent editorial structure in both site languages (Spanish and English).

4. Acknowledged limitations

We openly acknowledge that esinergia.co may contain accessibility barriers that we have not yet identified or corrected. We work with internal self-assessment by the esinergia design and engineering team, not with formal accredited external audit.

Areas where compliance may be partial or require continuous improvement:

  • Embedded videos from external sources (YouTube, Vimeo) whose captions depend on the provider or content author.
  • Downloadable PDF documents (brochures, whitepapers, technical sheets) whose accessibility depends on each document's production practices and is evaluated per document.
  • Third-party components integrated into the site (consent banners, external forms, analytics widgets) whose compliance depends on the component provider.

When a specific barrier is identified, it is documented internally and scheduled for correction as part of the site's maintenance cycle.

5. How to report accessibility barriers

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on esinergia.co, write to accesibilidad@esinergia.co indicating:

  • Concrete description of the barrier (what you were trying to do, what did not work).
  • Specific URL of the page where it occurred.
  • Device, browser, and assistive technology used (if applicable).
  • Expected result vs actual result.

Every report is documented in our internal accessibility log and evaluated for correction as part of the site's maintenance cycle.

6. Continuous improvement commitment

esinergia treats accessibility as a continuous improvement practice, not as a one-off compliance exercise. Current actions include:

  • Periodic internal audit of the site against the WCAG 2.1 AA standard by the esinergia design and engineering team.
  • Accessibility validation on every substantial change to the site before production deployment.
  • Team training in accessibility practices as part of technical onboarding.
  • Incorporation of external report findings into the site maintenance backlog.

Site accessibility is a cross-cutting responsibility of the design, engineering, and editorial content teams.

7. Assistance and alternative support

If you need to access information published on esinergia.co and encounter a barrier, in addition to reporting the barrier you may request an alternative:

  • Alternative version of the content in accessible format.
  • Content summary delivered by email.
  • Direct conversation with an esinergia team member who provides the information you need.

We respond to alternative support requests in up to five business days from receipt of the request.

8. Changes to this statement

This statement is updated when the applicable technical standard changes, when relevant accessibility practices emerge that we adopt, or when an internal or external audit identifies material gaps requiring adjustment.

When a change is substantial, we will publish the new version with its effective date on this same page.

9. Accessibility contact
