Universidad El Bosque needed to modernize its public institutional portal and equip its Library with its own thematic portal.

Universidad El Bosque has been an esinergia client since November 2023. What follows describes not only the initial project but what two and a half years of continuous operation reveal about the underlying architectural decision.

The existing portal, built on Drupal 8 (end-of-life version), generated growing costs tied to support and security, limitations to evolve the design and user experience, and difficulty aligning the portal with a modern digital ecosystem strategy. Beyond the main portal, the University required better-structured spaces for communication and library services, aligned with the institutional identity and with the experience expected by students, faculty, and researchers.

Drupal 10 and Acquia Cloud for two portals with unified identity

We built the Library's thematic portal first and, in a second phase, the main institutional portal. Both on Drupal 10 and Acquia Cloud Platform, with Acquia Site Studio as the visual composition layer. The solution unifies visual identity across the two portals, delivers a secure and scalable platform, and prepares the ecosystem to evolve at the pace of the academic community.

One nuance worth naming: the editorial autonomy delivered to the team was not a technical capability, it was an operational shift. The first months post-delivery required close support until the academic team internalized Acquia Site Studio as their primary tool. That transition, more than the technical migration, is what sustains the results of the following two years.
